We have a guest contributor! Have I said I love AP lately? I Do!

OCCUPY APCSD

Chris Foster and Jessie Zweig just voted with the 1% and left the 99% paying the bill.

Think Not! The median household income for a household in Rensselaer County is $42, 905 (see  Wikipedia).  About 6.70% of families and 9.50% of the population were below the poverty line including 11.90% of those under age 18 and 6.60% of those age 65 or over.
The unemployment rate in Renssealaer County currently exceeds 8.0%.

The majority of taxpayers in APCSD are suffering. The typical taxpayer is struggling to pay heating bills (lucky for a mild winter), gas prices (escalating quickly) and food prices. In this economic atmosphere what do Chris and Jessie champion? How simple - it must be cost cutting and downsizing allowing for the maximum educational opportunity for the children. How simple.

But No - Chris and Jessie are championing contract extensions and amazingly 5% RAISES for school administrators. The Administrators new salaries are $136,217 and 126,159 - www.seethroughny.net. The Administrators make the yearly median household income in 4 MONTHS.

Chris and Jessie - please explain!

The 99% need to OCCUPY the next BOE meeting on Feb 28th, 2012.

Thank you anon

I think the salaries are out of line with others doing the same work in other districts. I also see that we have two assistant supers and two people doing special education. I think it is symptomatic of the whole problem with the district....as much as schools need to educate our kids and leadership is important, this is a blatant slap in the face to our community. Too many people to do the work!!

Job Opening!!!

Assistant Superintendent for Business.

$63.08/hour.

Chris and Jessie - how many applicants do you think APCSD would get for that job. There would be no brain drain if you had not given out raises. APCSD may have even received a BRAIN GAIN if you posted the position.

Occupy the next BOE meeting on Feb 28

Please note that we in the community can no longer fund the increasing school budgets. We are making hard ends to put food on the table, to pay for gas to work and utilities, etc, to stay alive every day. And then we hear that 2 administrators get raises? Is this true? Sounds the same music the BOE plays. We have to throw those responsible out into the dark woods. I know some parents take on 2-3 jobs to survive. What is Mr Marcelle up to?
