Should this be happening?

This is in the Troy Record sound off today 2/1/2012

"Lead by example

To the Cohoes superintendent who took a 4 percent raise. Total greed. A $5,000 raise when faculty and staff were laid off. So much for leading by example. He should be replaced."

The Lansingburgh BOE actually gave a raise while suffering a shortage of funds. Knowing that this year would be the same as last. Is actually having a job enough of a reward?

Does this make you wonder how fiscally irresponsible the BOE is?

Is there a good reason to give raises from public funds while the education of the kids is cut? What does this say about the person accepting the raise?

Do you think that "Municipal Employees" are more likely to give raises at a time like this than "private sector" workers?

What are your thoughts?

Is there any truth that Privatizing the transportation department is a consideration for the new budget.
