Advance agenda for a Board of Education meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m., November 15, 2011 at the Averill Park High School – LGI.
8. Approve to accept a donation in the amount of $15,000.00 from the Averill Park
Booster Club for the purpose of restoring winter track and increase the General
Fund budget (A28551500053000) by this amount.
9. Approve to accept a donation in the amount of $27,874.00 from the Averill Park
Booster Club for the purpose of restoring boys & girls freshman basketball and
boys & girls varsity assistant basketball coaches and increase the General Fund
budget (A28551500046000) by this amount.
9. Approve the appointment of Jenna Brooks as Freshmen Girls’ Basketball Coach, effective November 7, 2011.
10. Approve the appointment of Meghan O’Shea as Modified Girls’ Basketball Coach, effective November 21, 2011.

Anyone can tell by looking at names in the District office, that those who "know someone" get jobs with APCSD. Biggest case in point - the name Bonesteel.
What can anyone do about it? Parents and Taxpayers have no voice in this District.
Can't wait to see who gets Mr. Hanley's job at the high school. I'm sure it will be someone "important", who ahs teh right address, lives in the right town, and knows all the right District people.

Can you tell me who hires a Asst Principal? Is it the Principal with the Superintendents and Board Approval?
The Super will do the interviews with a BOE member in attendance.
The BOE makes the final call and hire.
It's a good process. We are all in the loop.

So the High School Principal has nothing to do with hiring the Assistant? Do they give input? Participate in the interviews?

I love the folks at Unmoderated. They can do things that I can't.
Think about this: When pruning a tree you don't use an axe. You have to take things slowly because people are so afraid of change.
I am working on a tree. Some branches needed trimming quickly and other infected branches may come back. Only time will tell.
Either way, there are many tree huggers around and if the work occurs too quickly, they will be in an uproar.
If you want the tree to live and thrive, you have to pick your branches carefully. And keep a pruner nearby.
Patience is a virtue.......
