The question most asked recently is, "How are you voting?"
First I will tell you why.
I was disappointed when the BOE voted to put up the last budget. I voted no.
The same occurred when they voted to go straight to contingency. I voted no.
Then they voted to set the tax rate at 4.6% and I had been trying to get them to cut that down.
That vote was the day of the earthquake. I was stuck in Queens. I would have voted no.
The BOE seems to just keep spending.
I also disagree with the mix of buses. We rerouted the district to put more kids on buses and get efficient.
That being said, why buy mostly small buses? Five small and 2 large? Don't forget the Cadillac of buses
the "under belly" tour bus at just $124,400.
I would have considered a yes vote if the BOE had made room for the increse in taxes from the bus purchase by reducing the tax levy by an equal amount. That discussion was early in August. No one on the BOE listens.
Maybe if the purchase of buses fails they will start to listen. Maybe......
Again, I will be voting, NO.

Bill,
Have you found out why the amount of the proposal, put out to the public, is $2,000. higher than the actual proposal from the bus company?
No,
"Bookkeeping error?"
Who made the error?
Why do we need any busses if the passing rate is 100%? I read the October news and that says the inspection passing rate is 100%.
Can't we wait until the busses need replacing?
In AP we spend just to spend. Then we look good when we show up at a game.
I thought things were going to change....new super, new board majority, same old BS....lots of big talk but same nonsense....
Hey Bill,
Guess who disagrees?
Bridget Ball Shaw: I will be voting for the proposition for three reasons. First, because replacing buses systematically prevents a massive build up of old buses. Imagine the tax bill the year we have to replace 20 or 30 buses! Secondly, selling an old bus while it still has value ultimately saves us money. Thirdly, I rely on the opinions of our school board members who have studied the situation carefully. Dori, Jenny, Jessie, Chris, Peter, and Neil all voted for this proposition. That's all I need.

Not surprised about her support.
Neither she nor her hubby ever met a tax increase they didn't like.
I am surprised that she supports the decision of Dori and Jenny, the two candidates she worked so hard to defeat. I guess she is a fish out of water, flipping around trying to find out which direction is the best for her.
I have to say, when you buy a car in your personal life and you have tight money, you don't buy a new one right after you pay it off, you run it.
Typically it is cheaper to maintain a vehicle than to purchase new.
Also, it doesn't matter what the trade value is, State Ed reduces our aid by the trade in value.
Bus vote went down 288-480
