So they did it anyway.

During the process of crafting the failed budget, members of the BOE said they would not go straight to contingency. Well, they did.

There was one surprise, the vote was 4-3. Yes 4-3.

Right now, the spending limit is set at just over $55 million. This yields a 4.87% tax levy increase to be spread out over the nine towns we cover. It is a contingency budget.

We gained this year but will need to be totally on point for the election next year.

Sorry folks, I will keep working to give you your board back.

Who was the stray vote??

Bill,

What does this mean? Are the students losing art, music, business classes, etc.?

What part do teachers negotiations play here, if any?

As a parent, if I am paying almost 5% more in taxes, for LESS educational opportunities, what does that say to our students?

Please tell us who were the "4" votes, and who were the "3" votes?

Chris Foster voted with Jennie and I against this budget. I believe we all are against the building use restrictions and the tax rate.

We did get 5th grade music and winter track returned to the budget.
They wouldn't go for Business.

The BOE has restarted negotiations with the teachers and non instructional, we will wait and see.

The four in favor were Neil, Pam, Jessie and Peter. I was surprised to see the voting block break.

what does this mean for building use?

Anyone and everyone will pay for the use of the buildings.

Payment will be determined by the actual cost of use. If they use a room during the day or after school, they may not pay anything.

If the AAU basketball event runs 2 weekend days they should pay $150.00 per hour rather than the free for the past 2 years.

Bill,

Why do you continue this myth. Everyone that uses the gyms pays fees. Everyone.
