1) GED prep being abolished. Not that I have any child that has benefited from this program, but I am curious why this program was abolished. Bill could you look into this?
2) Food and Nutrition class this year not having funds to purchase food the last couple months of school. Bill could you please look into this? I am curious how this could happen, and I hope this does not happen again.
I understand the entire country is in a financial crisis but educating our youth should be priority. I am all for sports and extracurricular activities, but education should come before fun. If parents want their children to play sports they should raise the funds through the booster club.
The more I hear and see about this kool aid drinking district the more I've come to realize I picked the wrong district to live in

I attended the last meeting of the year. Jo gave Steve the standard parting gift.
Jess was absent, standard actions, nothing major to report.
It is my understanding that Jo did not receive a raise but did have her contract renewed.
3 weeks to go.
I have to marvel at the hypocrasy. Joe took great pride in telling the TU reporter how dissapointed she was in the actions of Steve as a BOE member yet her BFF is doing the same thing if not worse because her's is an open blog and tweets to anyone! Laura's bigoted statements have the ability to reach for more people than Steve's facebook page!

Is there an answer to this problem? Yes, stop weeding out dollars, students, and resources, and invest in the public school system. Invest in a future for EVERY child, not just the kids who can make into a more 'desirable' school.
Our future depends on public education. Without a great public education system, we will be doomed as a country to be second or third rate. We will have to make do with minds and technology that are not par with the rest of the world. Education belongs to everyone. Every child deserves the best education possible. Every community deserves good public schools that will serve their needs for now and in the future.
What a hypocrite she preaches about how important education is but is all for closing a school.

The reason it's on We Love is because she is good buddies with BBS and therefore if you are friends with BBS you can post whatever you like. If you aren't then she will silence you much like her husband tried to do when he was BOE President. (He's a good soldier too!)

As far as this site goes: I think the reason it's being discussed here is because of her relationship with JoMo and what she has posted on an AvPk facebook site - both of which directly influence the children of this district.
She was very outspoken on the facebook site regarding biblical quotes and speaking out against the horrors and bigotry of Steve Valenti. Yet on her own blog site she speaks against the Catholic Church (of which she and JoMo are members - St. Henry's plays a huge role in the politics of AvPk School) and against anyone who disagree's with her gayness. She is a bigot and her "wife" is Superintendent of this school district.
If Joe was married to a KKK member, how do you think that would go over with the family members of this district?
As far as the "We Love our Averill Park Schools" facebook site - it has nothing to do with it other than her plugging it to get attention. You would think BBS would be getting it off because it does not pertain to anything. Do you think you or I could plug a website for our business or copy and paste a resume for a job on BBS's site? I doubt it. But she will let Laura do and say what she wants....why? Because she is JoMo's girl!
One way or another this maniac and her off the charts ideas and thoughts effect our district simply because of her connections.

Bill, I hate to say it but I am beginning to question my vote and support for you throughout this election. I have always agreed with your views on the administration, and have admired how you are always willing to question policies and decisions that we find awful or just plain ridiculous.

While I disagree with Jo and the current board members (and am really disappointed in their decisions this year), this topic bashing her significant other has NOTHING to do with the BOE. I Don't drink, don't do drugs and I am not gay, aren't those all the requirements of being a part of Averill Park. You can blame the anger on these blogs on Joe Blow and all her Admin that pissed the district off for the last six months. I am just curious if your kids schools were voted to be closed back in April how the hell would you feel knowing that you had two freaken months to prepare your child, and then two long months of summer trying to convince your child that it is going to be ok. Think about it, it would suck, and until you walk mile in our shoes SHUT THE FRIG UP.

Ok, there is no problem with people being gay, until they start shoving it down my children throats by having there day of silence at the high school. We can't have a pep rally anymore because it is too disruptive to the school day, but we can have a bunch of students walking around with wipe off boards, instead of talking, in support of their sexual beliefs. This district is turning into Joe's little home away from home, she is slowing turning the AP district into her own little Provincetown. But when you mention this people have a fit and get all defensive, well guess what I am getting defensive in support of my straight children and their sexually beliefs, they are becoming the minorities in Averill Park and I will be damned if I will let that happen.

I discussed this whole "Gay Rights Day" with a couple of co-workers and they were HORRIFIED that a school district does this stuff. And pep rallies are still being done at Shaker and Colonie...they don't disturb their schools. This district is ridiculous and I'm glad my kids went to GW but as for the rest, I wish I could move. I'm sick of these people getting away with murder.
Hush now you can't complain you will be called a bigot. Oh well, when my kids start getting things taken away from them and nothing gets taken away from the, how should I say this, the Moccia clones, then I get pissed off. I would send my kids some where else if I could too.
