Steve Valente

I am saddened to read the Timesunion article addressing Steve Valente's facebook.

We as a commnunity need to combat any racism or any attacks based upon sexual orientation. We also need to continue to address the use and abuse of alcohol by our youth. Leaders in our commnity must strive to be role models for our youth.

That having been said I would like to draw on words from a recent post from BBS - " Emotions are running high - Let's proceed with respect, calm, and kindness ".

I would hope Steve would be given an opportunity to deal with these issues with his family and support network.

I will continue to focus on the educational and fiscal issues that exist in the APCSD.

I'd not only be saddened by this Bill, but embarrassed that he is in your pocket. It's no secret that the two of you have been pals all along since he's been on the board of ed. Many perceive that with Bill goes Steve and vice verse for a long time now. I would dare say that you are "running mates" for the board seats. The fact that you have close ties to Steve makes me sure who I will not be voting for this month. Sorry, but the guilty by association is too strong for me and my many votes that I influence.

Thank you, Bill. Yes, let's continue to focus on school issues and on the upcoming election.

Steve obviously has issues, and I hope he works them out. It would seem that looking for a seat on the school board, at this time, is the wrong thing for him to do. Too bad indivduals of all ages, think that living your life on Facebook or anywhere on the internet, is the real world. It isn't the real world, but it can become real, very quickly, as Steve now knows.

I guess this shows you that the Administration is really on the attack.

What will be next - will Child Protective Services be called on all of us who have a vote?

I personally think that Steve did nothing illegal, and his private life is exactly that his private life. People are digging as deep as they can, at this point, to destroy anyone. I am sure if we looked into the boards private lives and Moccia's private life we could find worse than drinking legally. Oh yeah, guess who else has a facebook, Dori Salsibury, Mike Dimin, Jessica Zweig, Jennie Glasser, Bill Reinhardt and probably most of the people reading this, So before we start throwing stones lets step back and take long hard look at our own lives. He is 23 get over it. And he still puts the board and JO Mo in their place.

well, yes, Bill...let his family deal with him by all means. Glad he's not my son for sure. But really, a SCHOOL BOARD....he just doesn't belong and now it's more obvious than it's ever been. He's a huge embarrassment and you know it.

Just shows how low the machine will go to get votes. maybe its time to rip into everybody background some things you just cant hide .DWI,Spousal Abuse ,aggravated assault. varsity coach supplying alcohol for a party with under age kids . was fired one good thing . but wonder who she was friends with.

so keep running a dirty campaign it may be you next get ready !!!

Bill - I am sorry to see this happen to Steve as well. I can't help but wonder which one of the super's minions found the info on facebook....or perhaps it was Dr. Jo herself - she has a page, but it is of course, set to private.

One thing is for sure - May 18th can't get here fast enough. This whole process has damaged our community. I only hope that whatever the results are, the healing will begin on the 19th. We owe it to the kids.

I'm sorry but saying that your are glad he is not your son is ridiculous, are you kidding me, because the guy drank at the age of 23 makes him that horrible of a person.. If that's the case then everyone reading this that drinks legally should kicked out of their family for being such an embarrassment. My god you people are ridiculous. If you all are that perfect then maybe you should run for the school board and have all your dirty laundry aired. Taking this story to this extreme and really messing with this guys life, he copied a few quotes and took pictures of him and friends drinking, oh my god call the cops, what a horrible person. THERE ARE WORSE THINGS IN LIFE PEOPLE, SO WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE GET A LIFE!!!!

Anonymous said...

I think that is a great idea , they are influencing our kids everyday. but no no cant talk about that.

Anonymous who made the comment about Moccia and Laua, YOU FREAKEN ROCK!!!!!!! Something that people have wanted to say but haven't.

Does ANYBODY remember the incident with the hazing, and how this District has always had LOTS to hide???!!!!

It really is time to throw the dirt back - let it fly!!!! I'm quite sure Steve has some dirt on Dr. Moccia, so the question is, when will he have the "gumpsion" to start shoveling? Ahhh, if only he had stood up to HER and voted to keep GWS open. Now she thinks there is no stopping her. Isn't it funny how ANYBODY who is in HER way, is getting knocked around? Coincidence, I think not!!! Look at how Neil acted at the Board meeting - she is finally saying, "Fly monkies, fly!" and "Surrender Steve"!!!!

Does ANYBODY have a bucket of water we can throw on Dr. Mo to make her melt???!!!

Facebook is a great way to reconnect with old friends, and can be great fun. One of the problems is that Facebook keeps changing its format, anf users must be vigilant to keep their information private. A 23 year old quotes the Blues Brothers on his Facebook page, and this is breaking news on the TU?? Really??

There are so many important issues in this district, and a young adult partying with his friends is not one of them. To mee this is just another example of the "If you are not with us, you are against us mentality" that has exisited in AP for the last 4 or 5 years. In a time when so many young people are apatheic and left out of the process, I am uncomfortable with the fact that people would rejoice in humilating a young man who ran for the school board at 18!

If you don't agree with the way Steve has voted on the board, then don't vote for him, but come on people!

Anonymous said...

I completely agree, do these people enjoy destroying this mans life. Is it really worth the ridicule people are putting him through. Get over it, if your were going to vote for him before this then still do, and if you weren't then don't, but don't use this one thing to turn you away from supporting him. He ran for the board at 18, I want everyone to look back and think what they were doing at 18. I bet you weren't sitting on a school board. The backlash of facebook has destroyed many lives, it is not worth it, drop it and move on. And the Times Union and Scott Waldman should be ashamed of themselves.

can so one please tell me why Mike is posting pictures of Bill's signs next to steve and then saying "becareful of the company you keep". What is he implying? I have to admit he has some nerve posting that when time and time again he denies that he has had anything to do with the numerous things with his name, bonesteel and shaffer? But not in writing, just person to person. So mike what is it are you with them or not? Did you give them permission to use your name? Because if not that would be some legal issues of a whole different ball game.

Anonymous said...

I thought that Mike started out the campaign well.

But now Mike has gotten carried away, and I won't be supporting him. He complains about Bill's spin put in the advertiser by exaggerating and spinning himself.

Now he wants everyone to hold Bill responsible for Steve's actions. No. This is silly. Apparently Mike wants to "play political hardball", as if that is what we want from a BOE member. Nobody with 1/2 a brain would hold Bill responsible for things Steve does, and Mike should understand that most people in this town are bright enough to make decisions on their own without the obligatory "Ha! - your friend is in trouble - let me rub it in!".

Mike - the ends don't justify the means, at least not for me. What is worse, losing an election, or tearing a town apart? Our school district has suffered from public embarrassment long enough, and this latest scandal is already bad enough without you fanning the flames.

Bill has enough actions of his own to worry about, there is no reason to tie him to Steve's stupidity.

To be honest, I would bet that Steve is actually relieved - he doesn't come across as really wanting to be on the BOE. For the last few years, he has gone through the motions, drawing attention to the bus garage whenever he can (probably because people expect him to do this), and playing the rebel whenever possible. But he certainly doesn't give me the impression that he wants to be doing this...

Great, guess I don;t get to post anything. that's fair right?

this is why NO ONE LIVES in AVERILL PARK!!!

This is sad, you do not see this in any other district .I hope the admin is enjoying herself .

Boy, this blog has been an eye opening read. Name calling, people bashing, then the quick disassociation with SV. Then you clearly state that you, Bill R., do not support homophobic comments nor racism, but then in a matter of hours, you forget all that and post the same type of comments that you stated we should not tolerate. Oh yes, you removed it later, but posting it in the first place showed us all how you really feel. Is this the role model that you feel BOE members should follow? Thanks for opening my eyes.

So we're going to use the "Gay" Card now? Boy, once she starts to really feel threatened and feels the earth slipping underneath her feet, the "Gay" card gets used. BBS has already started touting that on her FB site to say that anywone that is voting for "the evil ones" are homophobes! Please, spare me the drama. Are they all so desperate to keep Steve and Bill off the Board that they have to stoop to these levels? We all know that Moccia is gay. It's no big secret. And guess what, no one cares! It's her choice and she doesn't wear it on her sleeve. The only time it get's thrown in peoples face is buy her and BBS and the rest who are so violently adament about keeping things as is. What is so important to protect that they have to go to these extremes? Really make you wonder.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, we shouldn't post "homophobic comments" - let's just let the TIMES UNION do that!!!

HAVE YOU CALLED THEM LATELY? They seem to take a special pleasure in ripping apart our school District, and siding with Dr. MoJo.

And here we go with the "don't beat up on the gays" crap!! DON'T BEAT UP ON MY 8 YEAR OLD KID AND CLOSE HIS SCHOOL - OK???!!!!!!! WHERE ARE HIS RIGHTS????

A "quick disassociation with SV" - listen jerk, go back and read the posts - you haven't, or you would have seen the anger toward "SV" a LONG time ago!!!!! GWS parents have not liked him for some time now.

So you really haven't been reading this blog, have you?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous says "BBS has already started touting that on her FB site to say that anywone that is voting for "the evil ones" are homophobes!"

Where? I looked for this and there is nothing even close to this on the FB site.

Steve,

Can you say "Facebook" in Japanese? No?

But, Japanese is so important to know, don't you think?

How do the Japanese say "unnecessary school closing"? Well, when our sozei (that's taxes in Japanese) go through the roof next year, call you family, they may have the solution. Thanks for standing up for Taxpayers this year!!! Great job with the ridiculously low tax proposal!!! Way to go!!!! Completely unrealistic in these dire times (as Neil likes to point out).

You people have way too much time on your hands to be posting all this garbage, you are insecure, and so afraid that your cronies won't win the election that you resort to trying to bring someone else down. Why don't you do something constructive and worthwhile volunteer your time doing something good for someone or something, instead of only being miserable and negative. You may find out that your whole outlook on life my change for the better!I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU, YOUR LIFE MUST BE PRETTY DISMAL!

Can we stop making Steve the whipping boy, now? It's so transparent what's going on here..."let's divert everyone's attention to the fact that we have NO good candidates to put out there by bringing down Steve for doing what ALL red blooded Americans do in their free time!" GROW UP! I'm just hoping that anyone that was not sure of who they were voting for is not falling for this crap cause that's all it is is crap. I've never seen the likes of such immature people in the name of God in my life. Makes me want to pack up my kids for the Troy CSD where they don't play these stupid cards. And then to sic some lonely soul screaming out for attention on members of a facebook page...that's just sad!

What - no letters from you or the mrs this year every week in the Advertiser. Why? Because no one, except your nutball supports, can stand you.

Re: Steve Defends Himself:

Okay, Donna, maybe many, maybe most of us have gone out on the weekend and had a few drinks. But did we challenge each other to drink to the point of vomiting? Haven't you heard about people, typically young people, DYING from alcohol poisoning?!

And have you ever unapologetically spewed vi...cious homophobic comments? Or made fun of children with Down's Syndrome? Or worn shirts touting racial slurs?

This is extremely serious. If he were just some foolish, silly young man displaying extremely poor judgment, that would be one thing. But he's an elected official who has influence over policies that have a profound impact on our children's education.

I am dismayed that some in this community are so willing to overlook these offenses. Mr. Valente should publicly apologize to this community. He should resign from the BoE. And he should withdraw from the race. Then he should begin to go about the difficult journey toward becoming a grown up.See More

Don't forget, BBS, Steve should cut off his left arm, be drawn and quartered and we'll put his head on a pike at the 4 corners for all to see! Geez...and I'm sure not one of the other board members has had a drop of alcohol the whole time they've been on the board...of course, because any follower of JoMo walks with the saints and curses the sinners. In the words of Billy Joel, "the sinners are much more fun!" you ought to try it sometime instead of having your heads stuck in the mud repeating your mantra about how wonderful JoMo is.

The funny thing is ,they had this info for months and just now decide to tip off TU. wonder if this is political hm, does no one see anything wrong with dragging someones name through the dirt. and the superintendent not denouncing what was done to him was wrong and the people who did this to him have no morals. no she loved every minute of this hint hint wink. Did you see him deny anything, nO he owned up to it and explained his meaning of the things he said . and it just shows how angry they are with him for not being another yes man. I have heard from many people that it just strengthened their vote for him. we will see if their little Devilish trick works for them on May 18 . and as far as face book ,just when you think you have it locked down they change something and you have to go and lock it down again it has happened many times keep a very close eye on your privacy settings . there is also Facebook's instant personalization pilot program helps you connect more easily with your friends on select partner sites. and of course it is enable by default instead of giving you the choice . look it up on Google. you will find many people this has happened to.

The comment above was absolutely posted on Bridgets We love our AP Schools website, check it out for yourself, it was obviously copied and pasted, just look at the end of the post!

She is clearly responding to someone named Donna who dared to post her opinion on the site.

Lets remove it, since she wouldnt want to be held accountable for what she says!

I cant believe that this is going on. I truly pray that the community realizes what they will have with any candidate supported by these people.

Anonymous said...

Many of you people need to stop and think before you post - you are doing serious damage to yourselves.

1. Defending Steve is pointless, people who are offended by his FB page will not change their mind. It is safe to say that most people who know nothing about the situation will not think it is appropriate for a board member to have that stuff on his FB page...

2. Defending Steve and at the same time blaming it on the administration and her pals will reinforce the notion that the people who don't like Jo are all kooks.

3. This clearly is not the work of the closely knit group of Jo supporters. For gods sake, think this through people - It was 3 against 4, which is good for them, as the anti-Jo votes would be split 4 ways. 3 against 3 is much worse for them. They are not dumb - if they wanted to make this public they would certainly wait until after the election - if Steve kept his seat, then they could easily throw him off the board.

If you are too stupid to understand the above statements, then perhaps you should realize you are too stupid to post anything helpful.

BBS, this was your comment to me on "we love our schools". And now that I have disagreed with your thinking I have been kicked off your site. May 18th can't come quick enough.

Anonymous said...

When you think Bridget Ball Shaw can't get any worse she does, she kicked Donna Hughs off her site because she didn't like the fact that someone doesn't agree with her but Donna found another way to comment, lets see how long it takes for her to take Donna's son off the site, never mind she already did the comment is gone, you are such a child Bridget. You prove more and more how much you are like Moccia, if people don't think like you then off they go.

I saw all your comments Donna and I agreed with everyone one of them, just use this site to speak your mind, so far only a few things had to be censored here.

Bridget Ball Shaw:

I deleted yet another link to Bill Reinhardt's blog. For those of you who are not familiar with it, simply google "Honestly Averill Park." This blog has become increasingly hostile and offensive.

Now, let's get on with the discussion of the real issues of our schools. Thank you.

Thank you, Bridget, for giving this site even more publicity.

Yes, we will be discussing issues that matter - although it's painfully obvious that you can't seem to move on from your witch hunt.

Be careful, you know what they say about people who live in glass houses.

Can someone please tell me about the $1.6 million contingent reserve transfer?

I personally think that Mike is behind the whole thing. He is arrogant and self serving. He is definately NOT who I want to represent me on the APSBOE.....

Anonymous said...

For the record, the likelihood of Steven being thrown off of the board is almost non-existent. The only one that can remove a board member is the Commissioner of the NYS Education Dept., Board of Regents. Please feel free to go to the website and review the Commissioner decisions regarding Board member removal. You will find that it is as hard to remove a board member as it is a teacher. Jo Moccia can say all she wants that teachers (notice she doesnt mention administrators) would be held accountable, but the reality is that teachers have the ultimate protection and would never have been approached if faced with what steven has, let alone fired. I dont think this is right, but its the way it is now. I wish everyone understood what is really going on!!!

Steve and BBS,

Jusy wondering what both of your opinions are on administrative staff dating fellow employees?

If we shouldn't bring Facebook into a discussion about school Board elections, then why should we allow school administrators to date fellow employees? This has gone on for years. It is a well known fact.

Your thoughts Steve and BBS?
