Where were you when you heard?

Schuylerville Central School District names new superintendent

The Schuylerville Central School Board of Education has offered the position of superintendent of schools to Ryan Sherman, who is currently superintendent of the Argyle Central School District.
The Board will now enter into contract negotiations with Sherman and will announce the formal agreement within the next few weeks. Sherman has served as Argyle’s superintendent since 2004. Before taking that position, he was principal of Argyle Junior-Senior High School and a teacher and curriculum leader at the City School District of Albany.
He is currently enrolled in the doctoral study program at The Sage Colleges. Schuylerville’s Board of Education chose Sherman after a five-month search process conducted in conjunction with the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES.
Schuylerville staff, students and community members were involved in the process, serving on interview committees, attending open forums and submitting comments.
Sherman will replace Dr. Leon Reed, who has led Schuylerville Central School District for more than 17 years.

I'm more concerned about the fact that I wrote a post last year that is no longer included in the posts from 2008. It seems that when you are reasonable and willing to look at both sides of issues the author of the blog takes out your post. If this is really to be a dialog then all opinions should be heard. I haven't visited here in a while, but believe me - there aren't a lot of qualified administrators out there - let's work with the people we have as a team. Stop blaming - realize our kids are at stake and let's provide them with the best education our community is able to afford.

It makes me so sad to see some of the mean and untrue comments placed on this blog, particularly about the administration. My children went through Averill Park and I have known Jo Moccia since she started here, I think about 23 years ago, in fact, I was pregnant for my first child when I met her. I have rarely seen a person in education who is kinder and more dedicated. I'm not sure what Bill Reinhart has against her, though I know what Jenny Glasser does. I can't figure out what you all think you are going to get if you push Dr. Moccia out. Yes, maybe Dr. Moccia didn't get a job she might of wanted, but, when I talked to her about it, she has repeatedly said that she loves Averill Park, it has been her family for so many years and she could never care about another district the way she does about AP.

The thing is, you never hear her say anything bad in public about Bill Reinhart or anyone else. She has even said that everyone should have a say and that everybody has some good to offer. I just don't get it. And if there was some big hidden secret I know that it would be out because she has been investigated every which way to Sunday. I should know, I work for State Education. There is nothing that I haven't heard about Dr. Moccia from Jenny Glasser and Bill Reinhart, and none of the nasty stuff has ever turned out to be true.

It's really too bad because it is sad that a person who has gone to bat for some many people is being treated like that. It's wrong and sooner or later the people who have done the lying and all the nasty stuff are going to have it come back at them. It always does.

Mr.Reinhart, you are a smart man. Why do you put yourself with people like Jenny Glasser and some of the other people who are so nasty in the community. You have things you could offer, but you're so nasty and you are part of such a nasty, irrational group that what you do have to offer gets lost in the meaness. I feel sorry for all of you, because you don't know what you're missing by not working together with the great people of AP schools. You should try that sometime, I think you would be better at doing good things than trying to rip apart our schools.

I don't think she is employable. 7 interviews in 2 years and no takers.
